TSC SHOULD PROMOTE TEACHER PETER TABICHI MOKAYA UNDER SECTION 73 (A) OF THE CODE OF REGULATIONS THAT ALLOWS TEACHERS TO BE PROMOTED ON MERIT.
Instead of seeing TSC chiefs running to take selfies with the global award winner, teacher Tabichi, we should have been told that the TEACHER HAS BEEN PROMOTED. It sucks to have an employer like TSC who unlike the police, when Cathrine Ndereba won gold for the country at the Olympics she was given her promotion and rank the moment she landed at the airport. Promotions on merit under section 73 of the code of regulations were removed by the introduction of the river road cooked up career progression guidelines.
TALKING POINTS
When Peter Tabichi applied to contest in the global teacher’s award, TSC had stagnated him in the same job group from the time he was confirmed as a teacher. All along, tsc saw nothing in him, the very way they see nothing in many teachers in this country. Let me make this very clear. Peter Tabichi is not the only teacher in Kenya who is using his salary to pay school fees for needy students. Most teachers have either in one way or another supported a needy child. I am on many teacher WhatsApp forums and what I see in most groups are teachers contributing for various philanthropic projects in their schools that include giving needy students, fees, up keep, transport, books etc. While teaching at Kisumu day high school, the then principal who is now the TSC BOMET county director my friend William Mola was paying fees for 68 boys in the school. Mola was using his entire salary… Not a percentage… but his entire salary educating orphans and other slum children at Kisumu day, Kisumu girls and other schools in Nyanza.
*COMPARISONS*
I know many catholic nuns, protestant church teachers, who teach at Kakamega high, Olympic primary, Asumbi, Mukumu etc who dedicate their entire salaries to support needy kids in those schools. The difference between Mola, those catholic nuns and many other teachers in Kenya with Peter Tabichi is that Peter knew how to apply and participate in the global competition. The rest of us had never heard of it.
*CONCLUSION*
Teachers service commission knows all about these philanthropic acts from teachers. But they ignore us, they refuse to promote us, they separate from our families… And it had to take a tongue lashing from Blogger Amunga WHO WONDERED HOW TSC WAS MISSING IN DUBAI when the teacher was being rewarded. It is after Amunga pointed out that Cs, Amina and KNUT chair Collins Oyuu was in Dubai to give moral support and TSC Nancy Macharia was missing. That today we see them rushing to be seen at the airport to to be seen by the public hanging around teachers. Very silly Indeed. If you want us to respect you…. PROMOTE TEACHERS NOW USING THE CODE OF REGULATIONS.
TSC is a A SNAKE. A GREEN SNAKE IN GREEN GRASS. SHAME ON YOU. #AmungaPeter
