Reports that the now departed Archbishop Byrum Makoha was in the process of selling church land in Nairobi is erroneous, misleading and a figment of imagination of the writer of the report. It is unfortunate that a respectable publication UNDER the Nation Media group can engage in sideshows, malicious, damaging and divisive reports about a church leader at a time when he is not here to defend himself.
*Church Company a subsidiary of the Church of God in East Africa that is responsible for all properties and developments within the church has taken rue with misleading reports appearing in the said newspaper indicating that the Late ArchBishop was in the process of selling Church land. Rev Shimanyula and the Nairobi Area General Overseer Rev. Omamo have made it clear, that the Daily Nation must apologize and withdraw the story or be sued for defamation.* A letter and follow up calls have been made to the editors at the Daily Nation on the same.
Nothing can be further from the truth. Infact, the Church Company led by Director Rev. Shimamnyula has made it very clear, the Church General Assembly is only interested in developing church properties that are under it’s Mandate. The development of Church properties has been ongoing and will continue even after the departure of the archbishop. Church Leadership would like to request the Church Membership to be at peace at this time of grief. Let the devil not use this opportunity to sow seeds of discord and confusion.
Rest in Peace Archibishop Byrum Makoha.
