TSC, MINET AND MAKL HOLD AWARENESS WORKSHOPS ON TEACHERS HEALTH AND SERVICES THEY OFFER

By Amunga Peter

Hello members.
TSC medical cover managed by MINET has been creating awareness on the UPDATED AND RELOADED services they offer.

Many of the complains we see on Social media are because as colleagues there are so many things we don’t know about the health provider due to the negative situations we’ve had in the past.

A lot is being done and the following are the areas of coverage.

  1. OUTPATIENT
    Covers one’s family
Which are, contributor, one spouse, 4 children.
The children must be upto 18 years.
Thee one’s above 18-25 there must be proof they are in college. Above that, no cover.
The cover ranges from 100,000/ to -375,000/- depending on one’s job group.
  2. INPATIENT COVER
    Per family
    Covers between 750k to 2.5m
  3. DENTAL COVER
Maximum 35k per family per year.
  4. OPTICAL COVER
Maximum 45k per family per year
  5. MATERNITY
    100k per family per year.
  6. GROUP LIFE
When the contributor passes on, it’s calculated as follows:
    It’s the basic salary ×12 months ×3 year’s
  7. LAST EXPENSES
    Contributor,
Between 200k to 600k depending on job group.
Should be claimed before burial that’s 48 hrs. However incase one delays to claim, there’s a grace period. Can be explained further.
Kindly ensure you update your records on the TSC website on who to claim
  8. EXCESS OF LOSS
It’s for inpatients only. This is a situation where one exhausts all his or her inpatient year allocation.
    It’s between 150k to 400k.
In the event that one’s exhausts the inpatient allocation and you use cash to offset the bill, you should claim.
If the facility insists, take a photo of the bill and contact the minet agents.
Maternity for excess of loss is between 15k to 40k
  9. EX-GRATIA (OUT OF GRACE)

When one has exhausted the annual allocation and excess of loss, this comes in handy. You apply for EX-GRATIA which covers upto 50% of outstanding bill.

GEOGRAPHICAL COVERAGE
East African Region
Uganda
Rwanda
Tanzania

International
India
United Arab Emirates
South Africa

International coverage has restrictions, one has to seek for clearance from the Ministry of Health and Education.
It covers upto 1.2 million for the patient and caretaker.

  1. CO -PAY
    50 bob for outpatient.

All said and done there are so many issues on the ground

  1. Some facilities selected have students attending to teacher’s
  2. Mostly teachers are given generic drugs.
  3. Over pricing.
  4. One is told to have exceeded their days limit.
    5.Some facilities turning away teachers.
    Colleagues can add more

SO WE’RE REQUIRED TO VISIT THE TSC WEBSITE AND GO TO THE MEDICAL SECTION AND UPDATE

am not campaigning for minet but sharing what was shared to us yesterday

BE BLESSED
