TEACHERS MUST COME OUT… JUST LIKE DOCTORS AND TELL THE WORLD THAT #COVID19 IS KILLING THEM

IT WAS UNFORTUNATE TO SEE THE STAFF AT OYUGI OGANGO IN MIGORI LIVING IN DENIAL ABOUT THE DEATH OF THEIR PRINCIPAL DUE TO COVID19

Fellow teachers. We must be courageous and tell the world that #Covid19 is killing us. We must be like doctors and nurses, who are not hiding the fact that corona is killing them.

I watched on primetime news as the deputy of Oyugi Ogango struggled with words trying to wish away the fact that her principal died of covid related complications. She said something like..

“I talked to madam. She was very fine! She cannot have died of covid!!”.

She was trying to be nice. You see, COVID 19 has been so stigmatized that Kenyans don’t want to accept that it kills. You may have seen how the family spokesperson of the late Hon. Murunga in Mumias tried to be a doctor, explaining to us how the mp could not have died of covid since he had just been released from Agha Khan ICU a day earlier.

My good friend Kahi Indimuli who is the chairman heads association said on TV yesterday that over 19 principals of schools have died of covid since schools reopened.

But when you check the records the only principals whose families came forth to say COVID are two. The Tononoka head and another in Homabay. The rest want to play hide and seek with the disease.

LET ME make it clear. Madam Martha Ouma, principal Oyugi Ogango died of covid related complications. She developed the symptoms while at school. Was tested. Requested for permission from TSC for sick off. Aon Minet evacuated her to Nightingale Kisumu. She was isolated. Even family were not allowed to visit her. She texted her friends asking for prayers to recover from covid. She was put on a ventilator and oxygen. She passed. Her body was transported with all covid protocols. What else do we need?

She is not the only one or the last one. Many more of us teachers will die out of covid because govt of Kenya reopened schools without proper safety measures put in place for us.

CONCLUSION

We cannot continue behaving like Magafuli or Tanzanians. Covid inaua. The more we open up about it the more the govt will listen to us an close schools so as to put in place safety measures. The more we behave like Oyugi Ogango the more govt assumes all is well. The more we die.
TUTAKUFA. with Magoha behaving like a bully..TUKUBALI. YAISHE.
