This evening Covid 19 related complications * has claimed Madam Lucy Sunguti of Shamoni Secondary School in Kakamega County.

Madam fell sick, was tested for corona. She tested positive and was placed at an Isolation center at Likuyani. She started grasping for air this afternoon. No oxygen or ICU beds were available for her. She died in isolation, in pain and grasping for air.

The teachers, learners and community around Shamoni high in Kabras East Ward next to Kakunga Market-Malava Constituency of Kakamega county have gone into panic and shock following the death of Madam Sunguti. She has been teaching and mingling with the entire community until last Friday when she was isolated.


Teachers are in danger of dying in large numbers due to covid related complications. No testing is going on in schools. Madam Lucy used her personal money to test for covid. The rest of the staff and learners at school have not to been tested. The school should be closed to allow testing and fumigation.
