TEACHER SAFETY GUIDELINES AS SCHOOL UNREST TAKES TOLL ON KENYAN PUBLIC SCHOOLS

By Peter Amunga

More and more schools are set to burn. Right now the prestigious KISUMU BOYS is on rampage. So, following the rampant indiscipline cases in the KENYAN Public schools, teachers are strongly advised to do the following for the sake of safeguarding their lives.

1. STICK TO THE TIMETABLE AND OFFICIAL SCHOOL HOURS.

TEACH AND QUICKLY and get out OF SCHOOL. Avoid school meals, school bus, school TV, CU rallies, etc. Go home.

2. DO NOT UNDERESTIMATE THE ABILITY OF LEARNERS TO SNARE OR KILL.

Our CLIENTS, no longer have respect for teachers. You are no olonger safe as a teacher in a school situation. The learners are badly brought up by our society. Many are high on drugs. Several have been watching horror movies. Others are already acting in porn movies and illicit sex is their business. Such
will ensnare a teacher or kill them at the slightest provocation. Do not procastinate in school with learners. Go parent your own children.

3. STOP PUNISHING OR DISCIPLING LEARNERS.

Minding the blatant behaviour of learners is NOT YOUR MANDATE as a teacher. Read your job description. Read the TSC code of conduct. A classroom teacher IS NOT ALLOWED to punish learners.
Leave that to the principal, BOM and police and school Chaplain or Matiangi.
TEACH RUN AWAY TO HOME and stay SAFE.

4. EARLY PREGNANCIES OR ABSENTEEISM OF LEARNERS IS NON OF YOUR BUSINESS AS A TEACHER.

Teach those present. Stop that nonsense of calling out names of those absent. Those who walk in or out of your class as you teach. Ignore them. Teach those who want to learn.
Let Magoha & Matiangi and chiefs ensure kids are in school. If they fall pregnant, someone will be held responsible. Let it not be you.

5. JOIN OUT OF SCHOOL ACTIVITIES.

Join teacher unions like KNUT OR KUPPET. Join professional associations like KEWOTA. Register with #SOMANABONGA for online lessons.

Join a church, or a political party. Visit your nearest local. SIMPLY.. do everything that can help you as a teacher reduce time spent in school situation. keep you out of the school you teach in during your free time.

Teach as per the timetable and go HOME. MORE schools are set to burn.
GO HOME STAY SAFE.
