Mary Hill Girls in Thika is currently one of the best run and managed PUBLIC schools in Kenya and in the region. ACADEMICS, staff motivation, structures, spirituality, name them all.
Never will you ever hear a strike due to congestion, bad food or boarding facilities at Mary Hill. Thanks to a timid, silent Luhya lady from Bungoma who has headed the school for over ten years.

Needless to say, the principal at Mary Hill National school has been the impeccable, her greatness, her majesty one.. Imelda Barasa, and now retiring.
There something about Luhya leaders especially when working outside their homes. Luhyas are proven workholics, who work with dedication. Great admins and stewards of other people’s property. That is why most of our people are in the security and food industry.

Photos of how Mary Hill has transformed over the ten years that Barasa has been in charge can shock you. When I first visited the school in 1993, just after we had graduated as teachers in KU, it was an invitation by my CU mate one Rueben Kigame. You know him ofcourse.. the great gospel singer. He was residing in some fabricated teachers quarters. School was pathetic. Today, see the pictures I have shared. All these in the last 10 years.
CONCLUSION
IMELDA was born in KAKAMEGA county from Ebutsotso clan. She got married in Bungoma. Before Mary Hill she was at Hill School High Eldoret.
She is on secondment to KNEC.
She leaves a mark on the Kenyan school scene as an accomplished leader. Yes LUHYAS are cooks and WATCHMEN. Not just in the literal sense. Reflect deeper. Luhyas are great stewards who can be trusted to watch over the Kenyan economy and cook the national cake to be shared by all

Awesome indeed!! Maryhill is a small heaven on earth!!!!!
