THE CLEOPHAS MALALA FACTOR IN MATUNGU BYELECTION
By Amunga Peter.
When the dust settles on 4 the of March and NABULINDO wins the Matungu byelection, the man to watch is the first rising, evergreen, talented, supper striker CLEO.
Someone told us, that leaders emerge. If such a statement is true.. then the Matungu campaigns has seen the Young Luhya leader emerge. Indeed all ANC MPs and MCAs have worked and pumped in resources. But the most visible face has been CLEO with Bishop Khamala and Ayub SAVULA.
The branding, the organising, the PA systems, the hosting of party leaders, the designer Tshirts, the choppers, the trucks, deep pocketed friends.. CLEO has done it superbly.
Malala rose from a classroom teacher specializing in drama scripts to a lowly MCA in Kakamega to a senator and now emerging as a super striker for Musalia Mudavadi team. In the senate, cleophas has taken on heavy roles and performed exceptionally well. From the time of heading the WAIGURU impeachment commiteee, to standing with team KENYA in the Revenue distribution bill and now scoring goals for Musalia, his star is shinning.
he first-time senator was born in Mahiakalo, Kakamega, and studied at Star Academy and Friends School Kamusinga in Bungoma.
He later went to East African School of Media where he studied TV and Film Production and later proceeded to USIU for a degree and is now undertaking a master’s at the same institution.
Before becoming senator, he was Mahiakalo MCA. He served one term before succeeding Senator Boni Khalwale.
He is married with two sons.
The 35-year-old seems geared for the Kakamega governor seat in 2022.
CONCLUSION
The Luhyas say.. inula irulanga obutoro.
Leadership is seen when young. CLEOPHAS MALALA has emerged.
