As from April 9th, KENYANS cannot enter the UK due to covid. If you have been in or through any parts of KENYA in the previous 10 days, you will be refused entry to the UK.
In ratiliation KENYA’S foreign ministry has stated that as from April 9th, passengers arriving or transiting through the UK to Kenya will undergo a mandatory 14-day quarantine, within which they will have to undergo two Covid-19 tests.
“While in isolation, they will be subject to take two PCR Covid-19 tests, on day two and eight of their quarantine, at their own cost,” the Ministry said.
“Of the average of 550 people that travel from Kenya to the UK each week, a significant number are testing positive on Day 2. Nearly a third of those positive have been carrying the B.1.351 variant, which originated in South Africa,” the update said.
United Kingdom is COVID infested. You cannot compare to Kenya at all. So far, 4.3 million covid cases recorded in the UK. , 127,000 dead. Yet they target Kenya with the “red list.”
This could mean, that Kenya is being discrimated upon by vaccine producing countries around the world that have begun practising a form of vaccine nationalism, possessivenen this, the failed Jubilee govt is right is issuing a statement that the UK is playing discrimination, coupled with a vaccine hoarding attitude that can only be described as a form of “vaccine apartheid.”
Unfortunately is a battle that KENYA is not going to win. KENYA has everything to lose if the UK locks it out. Tourism, hospitality, education, military, name it. UK is the greatest trading partner to Kenya. UK diplomacy is such that the interests of their citizens come first. Deals come second. If only Kenya’s top leadership would have been patriotic, like Magufuli, UK would respect Kenya more than it does. Time our foreign policy was reviewed.
This could be because KENYA govt has made it it’s priority to advertise to the the world how the country is badly hit with the virus. The daily announcements on “covid: numbers, the locking up of the country the police harassment of citizens not wearing masks etc paint a picture of a country that should be red listed. We all know the MOH restrictions are meant to attract the IMF billions. But we must as country know that it comes at a big cost to our people.
