TSC PLOTS TO INTERDICT THE DELOCALISED PRINCIPAL WHO WALKS 20 KMS DAILY FOR EXAMS FOR SPEAKING TO PRESS.

By Amunga Peter.

Tsc has send a SHOW CAUSE LETTER to a headteacher who braves a 20-kilometre round trip daily to deliver exams to her 18 candidates in Trans Mara East, Narok County. TSC has asked her to record a statement over a story published by the Nation on her plight. That is how uncaring our employer is as Teachers in Kenya.

A moving story by the Nation yesterday had estimated that a delocalised Principal teaching in the remote, far flung school, a Ms Magdalene Njoki Kimani walks 20 kilometers daily to pick EXAMS for her school and would have walked a distance of more than 320 kilometres, an equivalent to trekking from Nairobi to Bungoma town, by the time the KCSE exams are over.

This story moved the entire country and made everyone realise the inhumane policies at the Teachers service commission. Ms Njoki KIMANI has to suffer like that as a fellow woman is heading the commission. They demanded action.

Sources indicate that the TSC CEO Nancy Macharia swung into action to save face of her commission by first seeking to distort the story. She got her ground team and Education officials to deny and do what TSC is best known for. PR games.

Consequently TSC officers and those from the ministry of Education summoned the principal to explain why she spoke to the media and allowed journalists to accompany her on one of her 20 km trip.

Nation reports that the officials said Mrs Magdalene Kimani, the Sosiana High School principal, was not authorised to speak to journalists. Can you imagine? With KESSHA now a govt tool silent. With KUPPET compromised, where and how do teachers channel their welfare complaints?

County director disputed that the 20-kilometre trek, was not true saying that the teacher only does nine kilometres a day. Surely. Why would any sane employer allow an employee to walk even 5 kilometers to perform a noble duty like exam management. Shame on you Njeri Macharia.

Trans Mara East Sub-county Director Steve Gachie continued to claim that the story  by DAILY NATION had caused him a lot of trouble with his boses (read Njeri Macharia) who demanding that he verify whether indeed the teacher trekked 20 kilometres daily and if not fire her.

He told the Nation.. “What you are doing is not right. … You people have made me go through a lot of hell. Now I’m being asked if she walks for 20 kilometres. You are exaggerating; it’s not 20 kms.. She will have to write her report. She will have to explain her 20-kilometre trek from the point of where the vehicle drops her. No one has a right to speak on behalf of the ministry…. Blah blah.. nyef nyef…”.

TSC sees what the Principal did as name tarnishing and insubordination.

Typically what the country director was doing is saving face and acting on orders from above. I believe that those who speak the same language with teacher Njoki and who are in top govt positions were angered with the realization of how Nancy Njeri Macharia has made teachers including those from Mt. Kenya suffer via her policy of DELOCALIZATION.

Let be clear. Teachers do not only suffer walking long distances in Kenya to teach. They suffer from selfish bad policies from their employer. Currently they are dying from COVID 19. One major cause of the rising covid deaths among headteachers is DELOCALIZATION. Macharia has made them work without proper allowances or safety measures in far flung regions away from their families and properties, away from medical centers, unattended. Many are now depressed. I can say this without a shadow of doubt. Principals are the most depressed KENYANS at the moment because of NANCY MACHARIA and her commission.

*CONCLUSION*

2022 cometh. BBI cometh. We shall REVISIT the injustices that NANCY NJERI MACHARIA AND TSC has committed to teachers of Kenya as she enjoys state protection. She and her cronies will pay for what we have had to endure. It is now 13 months to a new govt in 2022.

Meanwhile, Ms Njoki Kimani should write a reply to the show cause letter as for speaking to the press. But if she wants mercy, TSC is a corrupt tribal organ. Write it in your mother tongue.
