We are in the period of Alliance formations in Kenya as we approach the 2022. POLITICAL alliances have been the norm especially after the introduction of Multiparty politics in the country.
But we have noted with concern, that most of the formations we are seeing currently, appear not to have a very important region on the table. The northern Kenya, which is largely made up of the Somali ethnicity.
We stand to lose everything in this diplomatic row with Somalia.
Somalia has been a cash cow for Kenya all these years, providing employment for our young men and women. Kenya is the destination of choice for Somalis. So many of them invest in our country, literally growing our economy.
But we appear to be ignoring them and chasing them away, playing with their dignity, territorial integrity and sovereignty. This can be stopped by allowing their voices to be heard on the negotiation table as we approach 2022.
One strong voice from the former NEP is that of the former National Assembly Deputy Speaker FARAH MAALIM. Farah began being involved in the push for multiparty democracy after his first election to parliament. He is part of the courageous KENYANS who brought us the second liberation.
Maalim belongs to the Auliyahan sub-clan of the Ogaden Darod Somali clan. He was educated at Maseno School. He is a member of the Orange Democratic Movement political party in Kenya, and was elected to represent the Lagdera Constituency in the National Assembly of Kenya in the 10th Kenyan Parliament. He had previously served in the 7th Kenyan Parliament.
Research shows that Farah Maalim is the Tomboya of the 60’s in promoting Education in the former North Eastern province and among Somalia communities in Kenya. He has sourced for over 5000 scholarships for KENYANS living in ASAL counties.
The Somali and the entire Northern Kenya region is no longer a place to ignore when it comes to shaping the next government. Farah MAALIM must now take a front seat at the ONE KENYA ALLIANCE.
