Jane Muthoni is guilty of murdering her husband, Solomon Mwangi, the Kiiru Boys High School principal. She was charged together with three others, including Joseph Njuguna Kariuki who confessed to the murder. Gikuyu was also convicted together with Muthoni.

The prosecution had stated that Muthoni killed Mwangi because she suspected he was unfaithful. Kairiuki her co accused, gave a blow-by-blow account of Mwangi’s murder saying he was paid cash for the murder.

The court has set May 18 as the sentencing date.

In June 2016, Muthoni, also the former principal of Icaciri Secondary School in Kiambu hatched a “brutal, chilling and cold-blooded” plan, that took at least six months to kill her husband, saidJustice Joel Ngugi.

Mwangi had been reported missing on November 6, 2016. His mutilated body was found eight days later, dumped at Karakuta Coffee Estate in Juja sub-county, Kiambu County.

Muthoni had been accused of orchestrating her husband’s murder between November 6 and November 11, 2016.
