The ANC Party nominated Senator who is also the Vice Chair of Commonwealth Women Parliamentarians and a member of the Senate Standing Committees on ICT and of Energy , Hon. @⁨SEN PETRONILA WERE⁩ , today paid a courtesy call on the Chief Administrative Secretary , National Treasury and Planning, Eric Simiyu Wafukho.

Senator Were challenged Treasury not wait for budgeting time in order to engage Parliament but to continually engage the oversight body on critical matters through such platforms as Speakers Forum and others. Hon. @⁨SEN PETRONILA WERE⁩ has been very vocal in Parliament on protection of local businesses, streamlining procurement processes and operationalising IFMIS System. On his part, Wafukho urged Parliament to support the Treasury’s efforts to align spending to Government’s development prioriries and long-term policy directions. The instruments such as Vision2030, MTPs, SDGs, AU Agenda 2063 needed to be given focused attention in funding priorities. Failure to observe this alignment between Planning and spending would.see Kenya take a wild gamble into the woods.
