Those of us who boast of an education degree called B.eD have woken up to shock that TSC has decided teachers do not need degrees. Anyone with 32 teeth can teach according to TSC CEO NANCY MACHARIA. How ridiculous?

To understand how the current govt is out to compromise standards, see what took place at KMC.

Kenya meat Commision was set by an act of PARLIAMENT just like others like IEBC, TSC, JSC etc. These are commisions expected to work independely free from control of executive control.

But we saw Uhuru Kenyatta change Kenya Meat Commision from a commision to a MILITARIZED entity.

In a developed country this act alone would have made everyone angry and concerned. More so the parliament would have reacted. Lakini wapi? Someone like Okiya Omutata went to court, the courts declared the move by UHURU unconstitutional and illegal. But we all know that those orders are just that. The military is in charge of KMC.

What do you think is happening to workers and those who have worked for KMC all these years? Their families, pension, insurance etc? Military take over is like coup d’etat.

That makes me believe that even before the polls in 2022 it is possible the PRESIDENT can order TSC also an independent commision to be under military and nothing will happen. Teachers can be devolved to county govts.

Even Judiciary Service Commission can be put under Kenya police and life will go on.

The voices that could protect workers have long died. Voices of Mwachofi of KMPDU, Sossion of KNUT and Panyako of KUNNUN are long gone. Unions can be put under Kenya prisons.

Kuppet is more of a tourist attraction and can be put under Kenya wild life services or at the Kenya museum.

That is what happens in a country where court orders can be violated, unions compromised and PARLIAMENT at the mercies of the executive.

I suggest, TSC be placed under Mathare mental hospital. It will do well from there. It can issue orders that for one to be a teacher all you need is a head on your neck.
