I have read in some quarters blames on H..E Mudavadi and on Sen. Cleo Malala for making DEVKI pull out of a deal to revive Mumias.

Some cheeky blogers even claiming that Sen Malala had demanded a bribe from DEVKI for protection.

Wacha niseme hivi; H. E. Mudavadi has been in Government as Finance minister. He knows how govt works especially in financial dealings.

The KCB DEVKI deal on Mumias was shrouded in mystery.

MM wanted full disclosure of the deal with proper structures, timelines, amounts involved and years that the lease will be in place.

When MM raised these valid concerns we expected DEVKI to respond with answers. Instead, we see, DEVKI writing a letter claiming they cannot continue with deal since it is attracting public interest.

Mudavadi and Senator Malala asked questions that were meant to protect the farmer, the workers and the community at large.

If Devki had provided full disclosures and was transparent as MM demanded all of us would been very very happy and the deal would have proceeded.

Imagine if after Devki took over MSC and given a 100 year lease. WOULD it have shocked us?! What if after a few months DEVKI starts packaging imported sugar using MUMIAS brand? Or turns Mumias into a dairy cows farm wouldn’t we start blaming MM again?

Prevention is better than cure. Musalia Mudavadi is our community leader. When he asks questions, it is for our own good. If DEVKI was honest, all he should have done is to answer questions and remain open to public scrutiny.
