No union in the world has held person to person ELECTIONS during the covid 19 pandemic period. All ELECTIONS are virtual world wide. Even COTU SG was voted for the fifth time and to ILO virtually.

The world breaker on this new normal is going to be the KENYA National Union of Teachers who have invited hundreds of teachers to NAIROBI next week for an ADC and ELECTIONS. This should be a shocker to any Government OFFICIAL right thinking citizen, parents and learners at a time like this in our country when we have partial lockdowns and a spike in covid 19 infections.

An NEC MEETING by KNUT saw to release of a circular stating that KNUT will hold elections and an AGM of over 2000 people SITTED in one area at the Ruaraka sports club. How shameful.

KNUT NATIONAL LEADERSHIP has thus come out as a heartless body and anti Government agency driven by greed for power to settle on physical voting method.

Many of us are opposing this move by Sossion and his union. It is out of science that some of us are appreciating the necessity of virtual voting when those who are fired by greed and careless attitude towards life are hellbent on face to face activity for KNUT elections.

My worry is, in the unlikely event that those KNUT leaders who want to export serious problems to homes of KNUT delegates have their way, who will shoulder the cost of covid-19 tests for those who will be travelling to Nairobi for the elections?

What will happen to those whose test results will turn out to be positive? Will it be fair for a positive test result to strip a ranking delegate of their rights to make decisions at the KNUT’s ADC?

Unfortunate as it may sound, let the massive hospital admissions, misery and possible deaths of teachers, parents, learners etc that are likely to follow the KNUT ELECTIONS be blamed on the KNUT organs of NEC, steering COMMITEE members, the chairman and secretary general Wilson Sossion.

Quite saddening, the proponents of face to face voting shall not be there to help clear huge hospital bills or mourn with the families who will fall victims to the ravenous covid-19 pandemic! Many of them are hired bloggers who are interested in minting money as opposed to protecting human life. Some of them are KNUT aspirants who shall have lost elections and will be too bitter to pick a phone call.

All teachers of good Will must join me in fighting KNUT on this. I call on ur aged teachers and those with compromised immunity should take extreme precautions should greedy KNUT officials decide to hasten their journey to the maker via travelling to Nairobi to participate in physical voting.

As I write this, KNUT branch secretary for Bondo has died of COVID. His body is lying in the mogue yet his colleagues at KNUT HQS continue to travel campaining and planning for an in person ELECTION. Aworo!!

We must endeavour to preserve lives. We must not invite absolute pain and suffering into our homes and neighbourhood to satisfy the power greed of either Bro. Sossion to continue as SG or for Bro. Oyuu to be the SG. We go for virtual ELECTIONS or postpone them.

We are also keen on Luhya Renaissance is about making the Mulembe People aware of their blessings, appreciating those blessings, defending them and putting them to proper use for the current and future generations.

  1. Wasted energy purchased by Sossion after sensing defeat. You think by this cheap rhetoric you will convince us to hold virtual election which you intend to steal. It won’t work for you. Sossion must go
