RENEWAL OF NANCY MACHARIA’S TERM AS TSC CEO WAS A REWARD FROM H.E. UHURU KENYATTA FOR A JOB WELL DONE

Opera Snapshot_2020-08-05_232231_web.facebook.com

Nancy took over as TSC CEO when KNUT had been taken over with a bully called Sossion.

Many will recall how in those days Sg Sossion could confront the president in a public forum and warn him not to touch a penny belonging to teachers. And all teachers in Kenya saw in Sossion a leader who will take them to Canaan.

In the months that followed after 2013, KNUT dared, threatened, cajoled and bullied Uhuru govt. KNUT even hired the best lawyers in Kenya and pledged to pay them millions of shillings to fight their case in courts. KNUT called the mother of all steikes in 2015 that almost crippled the education sector. Schools were closed for almost 3 months. Sossion grew big. He even started fighting those who had put him in power.. who included Uhuru and DP William Ruto. He fought his foot soldiers. Sacked others and retired top KNUT officials. He forgot… the power of a woman.. and the power of a govt.

The no nonesense Hon John Michuki once told media, who were covering his event, and i quote,,, ”it is very easy for a government to remove all your teeth and then tell you to go and report”,,,,,end of quote,,,,

NANCY MACHARIA BECAME THE Margaret Thatcher and Trade Unions

This iron lady came to power in 1979.The labour movement was by then controlling millions of pounds and behaving like a parallel government. Infact, between 1984 and 1985 miners were on strike. Thatcher therefore introduced radical shift in the balance of power in industrial relations. Her conservative government introduced eight employment laws over a period of time. Mass picketing was outlawed,,,,, Thatcher had a great nationalwide support from citizens who saw unions as ” bullies” and”wreckers.” Its on record that, following these stringent measures loss of man hours due to those industrial disputes shrunk from about 29 million in 1979 to less than half a million by the end of 1990s.Power of a woman indeed!!. The labour party insisted that the reforms were aimed at making the unions more accountable, ending unjustifiable strikes and freeing up economy from constraints.

NANCY MACHARIA ENSURED THAT UHURU’S PROMISE THAT NEVER AGAIN WILL TEACHERS GO ON STRIKE IN KENYA WAS KEPT

In 3 years, Nancy has ensured that teachers are not ruled by a rogue KNUT, but are professionally guided under their employer TSC. She ensured a CBA was signed. The unions were involved. Sossion even called it the best South of Sahara, north of Limpopo. Only Amunga refrred to it as,a Bonoko CBA because clearly it had disfavored classroom teachers and given school admins Helicopter pay rises. Nancy intoduced TPADS, health cover, proffesional courses, helped in introduction of NEW CBC curriculum and stopped stealing of exams. But very powerful is, that as NANCY was busy scoring bonga points, Sossion was fighting her on social media, courts, parliament, with BBI etc. In the process of fighting her, he overdid himself.,He shot himself in the foot after a court ruling ruled all KNUT members out of the CBA benefits. They could not be promoted. And Nancy then pulled the rug under Sossion’s feet by introducing the online invalidation tool, where teachers in KNUT who wanted OUT.. simply punched a red button…. and BANG… They were out of KNUT and enjoying CBA benefits. In 9 months, KNUT Membership has come down from 280,0000 to today 26,000. KNUT has no numbers to call a strike, or to get a recognition agreement.

Nancy had clearly won. President Uhuru had no choice, but to renew her term.

KNUT OPTIONS
The only option is to sell assets and close shop.A union is Members. Knut has no members. Sossion chased them away.

CONCLUSION
Sossion can run to Atwoli, or Baba Raila or
go to HAGUE or ILO but truth is Kenya government will allow any tax payers money to finance warmongers. KNUT has been drawing hefty somes of money and no one can tell you how they have been using it. Maybe organising strikes??Reason why they came up with a strike fund to freeze teachers off their peanuts which they also ate!!

*_KNUT membership and accounts will never be where they were!! let no one deceive you that BBI or handshake will force TSC TO RETURN TEACHERS TO KNUT.

THE SUSPENSION OF ALVANS MUTETEZI ODHIAMBO FROM BEING KNUT OFFICIAL IN NAIROBI BRANCH IS A CLEAR INDICATION THAT KNUT HAS LOST IT

Opera Snapshot_2020-08-06_063136_web.whatsapp.com

News that KNUT Sg had written a suspension letter to his once die hard supporter and personal aide, whom he ensured he became a KNUT official did not shock me. Sossion has clearly lost it. Alvans is just another of many people who have stood with Sossion and paid the price for it. Mudzo Nzili, Stanley Mutai, Lucy Njura, Benta Opande, Dorothy Muthoni, Jecinter Ndegwa, Wyclife Omucheyi, John Wesonga, Peter Amunga, Malele, Tanai, Sammy Bor, Kipchumba Arusei, … the list is endless of people Sossion messed his relationship with them.

In the last week alone, Sossion has suspended, Lucy Machuki in Kisii, Stanley Mutai, John Wesonga, and now Alavans Odhiambo. According to Knut constitution under article 10C sub- section 5 l mandates the branch to suspend an official including a branch secretary must start with BEC full meeting and recommend such suspension to the branch general meeting for a decision to either reinstate or dismiss. Discipline in the Union must start from down up….NOT FROM UP DOWN THE WAY SOSSION IS DOING IT.

If the Branch general meeting dismisses him and he is dissatisfied with the decision, he can appeal to the NEC of the union for consideration. So what Sossion did in dismissing Mutai, or John Wesonga cannot hold water in a court of law. It is illegal.

To say the very least, Sossion has no authority to suspend anyone including a BEC member. This is an exercise in futility where the tired and tattered Sossion will lose horribly.

CONCLUSION
Those of us who love KNUt and have served KNUT, I told you that Sossion is a suicide bomber out to clear this once upon a time giant union. I told you.. IF WE DO NOT DESTROY him , he will destroy us plus the union. What we are reaping is our failure to have cleared him. He hus thus succeeded in destroying us plus our BE-loved union KNUT.

THE KAKAMEGA GOLD SAGA PROBE

Opera Snapshot_2020-08-02_133159_www.google.comThe National Assembly’s Environment and Natural Resources Committee chaired by Kareke Mbiuki (Maara) will look into the deal.

Mining CS John Munyes disclosed the exploration plans last month when he visited the region. He was accompanied by CSs Peter Munya (Agriculture), James Macharia (Transport) and Eugene Wamalwa (Devolution).
Western Kenya MPs led by Alfred Agoi (Sabatia) and his Lugari counterpart Ayub Savula have said the deal is shrouded in secrecy.

Savula told the Star that the area leaders were kept in the dark and there was no impact assessment conducted for the project.

The Mbiuki-led panel will be probing amongst others how the UK-based company, Acacia Mining, was awarded the contract by the government to start gold exploration in the corridor which cuts across Kakamega, Vihiga, Kisumu and Siaya counties.

Last week in Parliament, Agoi asked Munyes for an explanation of the deal and the ownership of the companies.

Speaker Justin Muturi referred the matter to the committee.

“Which companies have been identified and given the rights for gold prospecting and what are the processes that were used to identify and award those companies the rights for gold prospecting?” Agoi asked.

“What is the proposed revenue sharing structure among the national government, county governments involved and the local citizens affected and what royalties or payments has the government received and/or is given by those companies in exchange for the award of gold prospecting rights?”
He furthered demanded that the CS makes public the impact assessment report and also clarifies the estimated amounts in value and quantity of the gold deposits in the Lirhanda Corridor.

G 4S COURIER SERVICES HAVE MADE BOOMING BUSINESS AS THEY DISPATCH LETTERS TO TSC FROM TEACHERS QUITTING KNUT

The last 1 week will be memorable for G4S a courier company that acts as a post office. G4s are the prefferd means used by teachers across Kenya who have quit the former giant UNION KNUT.

In Kericho for example it costs 400 shillings to deliver any parcel of less than 500 grams to Nairobi. At first, over 2000 teachers quiting KNUT each sent their letter weighing 25 grams individually, until late yesterday when they started collecting letters, putting in box yo ensure they weighed 500 grams and later dispatching to Nairobi. By yesterday TSC had received over 20,000 letters from teachers who are seeking to be Unionless.

Kakamega and Kisumu it costs 527 tKNUT&TSC(1).pdfo send a similar letter. Reason teachers prefer this means is because they are sure it will reach TSC and the commission cannot claim that the letter did not reach.

WHY TEACHERS ARE QUITTING IN LARGE NUMBERS

1. Sossion. They believe Sossion the KNUT SG has failed to get a working formula with TSC their employer. They blame him for bad leadership, too much noise and little ability to save their plight.

2. CBA. Knut members were left out of the latest CBA increments and promotions. TSC says, KNUT went to court and obtained orders that removed them from CBA benefits.

An ATTEMPT BY COTU SG TO SAVE KNUT FAILED

The highly publicised meeting called by the COTU SG Atwoli to save KNUT from collapse flopped, with both TSC and labour ministry ignoring him. Teachers especially in primary schools have been left with one option. Choose between being in a dead KNUT or keep their employment under TSC.

Only a foolish teacher It would be naive to remain in KNUT, be deducted 2% and miss their promotions.

CONCLUSION

For many of us who loved KNUT… it is a very sad time. Very sad to see the thing die. And to teachers, we must regroup and think of forming another strong union. The worst thing ever is to remain Unionless. Once KNUT AND Sossion go, then we must regroup and form a union.

CASE OF LYDIA IRERI, A NAIROBI UNIVERSITY GRADUATE WHO HAS WAITED FOR MONTHS TO GET HER POSTING LETTER FROM TSC LONG AFTER SHE PASSED AN INTERVIEW

ireri 5

On the morning of 3rd August a young woman and her baby got to TSC HQS in Nairobi. Was stopped at the gates by guard and told to go away. But she insisted. With her baby strapped on her back, she chose to sit at the gate and demanded to see the TSC CEO Nancy Macharia over her plight,

Education Social media blogger and influencer, Peter Amunga got wind of the matter and got photos of the lady which he posted all over facebook and whatsapp pages. The story then went viral. At first the story went like this. Ireri graduated 2015 and got a 2nd class upper. TSC number; 729765. She did an interview in 2017 and luckily, she excelled. She was supposed to receive her letter on 27th Feb, but the opportunity was grabbed by someone with money. Someone is earning money under her name. She is crying with her baby outside TSC’s headquater but no one is there to help. Well the TSC has since clarified the story.ireri 3

*ZAC KINUTHIA CAS EDUCATION*

As the day proceeded and when the story was trending, the deputy Minister for education in Kenya, CAS Zac Kinuthia posted on facebook that he had personally gone to TSC HQS and spoken to Lydia Ireri. He commended the social media Kenyans who had highlighted the story and promised that Lydia will be sorted.

*TSC RESPONDED ALSO ON TWITTER &FACEBOOK 10 HOURS AFTER AMUNGA HAD GONE VIRAL*

Several hours later, at exactly 20;28 PM TSC responded to our social media demands as follows.

“ … The attention of the Commission is drawn to some social media reports about the status of teacher Lydia Ireri’s job. Lydia was recruited as a teacher by the Commission early this year. Unfortunately, her posting letter, along with those of other teachers recruited at the same time, could not be dispatched due to the disruption caused by the Covid 19 pandemic.

ireri 2

The process of a new teacher reporting in a school requires the physical presence of the teacher himself or herself and the receiving head teacher. The coronavirus pandemic has made this impossible over the last five months that schools have been closed. Indeed, our headquarters and field officers have been relaying this information to teachers when they inquire.

We look forward to issuing all pending postings letters once we overcome the Coronavirus pandemic and it is safe to reopen schools. We regret that Lydia had to travel to Nairobi today.

Beatrice Wababu

Head of Corporate Affairs..”

*CONCLUSION*

We wish to thank both TSC and the Education Ministry through CAS Zach Kinuthia  for coming out to assist and respond to Lydia Ireri. But many questions linger on our minds on the incident. Like.

  1. How many Kenyans Out there have cases similar to Ireri, but have no courage to storm and camp at TSC and demand for answers?
  2. Why would TSC not communicate on time to all its applicants and especially those who sat interviews and passed so as to reduce anxiety?
  3. Who at TSC HQS is sleeping on his or her job? We have had cases of files getting lost, mix ups with appointment letters, corruption, kick backs etc? When will TSC officers stop engaging in delays and loses of teacher files?

All in all, we thank God, that TSC head of communications is up to the task. Her response however late has put an end to this saga that would have taken different dimensions.

WHY IS MEDIHEAL HOSPITAL TRENDING FOR ALL THE WRONG REASONS? SHAME

Opera Snapshot_2020-08-03_190237_twitter.com

WHY IS MEDIHEAL HOSPITAL TRENDING FOR ALL THE WRONG REASONS? SHAME*

Trending this morning is the rotten monkey business going on at the Mediheal hospitals. Hashtag #RotInMediheal has exposed the following rotten practices going on in Mediheal hospitals.

  1. RACISM

From reports we are getting it Looks like big time racism goes on in the facilities.  It involve Indians vs Africans. The indian bosses are accused of mistreating African workers.. Records show that Kenyans working at mediheal are being paid less than their Indian counterparts even for similar or higher jobs.

Sometimes we need to be realistic, you can not hold salaries for months, racially favor some workers, mistreat some and still think that such things can stay hidden forever and ever.

  1. Exaggerated Bills

Mediheal are being cited as the hospital that thrives on Sickness for profit. Medical care in Kenya is now full of cartels who scheme to fleece Kenyans. The government seems unable to reign in on those out to collapse insurance forms due to exaggerated bills. Kenyans on twitter believe that Mediheal are the biggest culprits of   exaggerated bills, charging insurance providers and users heavily.

Opera Snapshot_2020-08-03_190929_twitter.com

  1. STAFF GO WITHOUT PAY FOR MONTHS.

Mediheal health workers deserves some justice…..They should be paid all the dues. Half salaries and you’re risking your life’s and those of loved one’s… It’s sad to see patients paying for the services they receive only for the nurses administering them not to be paid. Very sad indeed.  MEDIHEAL nakuru IS WORSE. ..the Hr there  a mere secretary treating people like donkeys, even sacking staff.  Mediheal  Eastleigh is misusing health workers, They wrote to them that they will cut their slaries by half during COVID 19 period but again.. still not pay them a whole 2 months with this pandemic.

  1. HOSTILE STAFF.

Mediheal Hospital is just a name. Reception in their hospital is a place you will not want to pass through. They don’t see patients as patients. They see you as AN AFRICAN BEGGER COMING TO BEG FOR SERVICES. This could partly be explained by the things we are reading where their staff go for months without pay. Even those who have insurance cover, are treated like 3rd class Kenyans when they step into Mediheal.

  1. DOCTORS WHO ARE UNDER INVESTIGATIONS BY INTERPOL

Mediheal hospitals that is owned by Kesses MP Dr. Mishra has appointed Dr. Prem Kumar Gokul as the vice president. Mr Gokul is under investigations by Interpol for smuggling human parts. He is part of a racket that smuggles kidney across the globe. How safe are OUR PATIENTS?

Opera Snapshot_2020-08-03_190419_twitter.com

*CONCLUSION*

The allegations levied on mediheal about exaggerated bills, about nurses not being paid for months, about staff who are rude and hostile, about international staff who are on Interpol rada for malpractices and about racism and hostility to patients is just a tip of the iceberg. There are a lot more untold stories of malpractices which should be unleashed. Investigation should be launched by all organs in govt to find out the truth. Otherwise, we shall advise the TSC medical cover administered by TSC and MAKL to stop engaging MEDIHEAL FOR TEACHER MEDICAL SERVICES IN KENYA.

*THE GOLD TALK, THAT ALWAYS COMES DURING ELECTION CYCLES MUST STOP AND A PROPER ACTION PLAN TO MINE GOLD IN KAKAMEGA PROVIDED*

Opera Snapshot_2020-08-02_125645_www.nation.co.ke

#ByAmungaAkhanayalabandu

The estimated gold deposits in Kakamega stands at about 1.31 million ounces of gold which if we were to calculate at the market price of 12.1 grammes per tonne it could be one of Africa’s highest grade of quality gold.  The value of the gold is a staggering 164 billion.  Simply, all these wealth is lying below the ground in Kakamega. That is what I call sitting on gold. Actually, it is sleeping on gold. Sleeping because our people do not know that they are billionaires. The political class and the wheel dealers in the region would rather that we remain poor so that they can command us, na kutupanga kama viazi as we beg for handouts from them.

The question that comes to mind is, why? Why has such wealth remained untapped for all these years yet our people in Western Kenya live in abject poverty?  The answer lies in SIASA MBAYA ..MAISHA MBAYA.

*THE ELECTION CYCLE AND GOLD TALK*

2012:  Acacia Mining Company was first introduced to the Luhyia Nation in 2012, when TNA was campaigning to recapture from Kibaki. Luhyias were told that govt had engaged a British company to explore gold deposits in Kakamega.  The narrative said that Acacia had invested Sh3 billion in exploration works covering 2,800 square kilometres of Kakamega.  All these was done chini ya maji. Nobody knows how much of that money was paid to govt as tax? How much went to Kakamega county govt? And how did our people benefit? It was political talk. And if indeed the money was availed, it must have oiled political hands and funded the campaigns.

2017:  Again just before General elections, the Mining Minister then announced with pomp and colour that Acacia mining had discovered gold deposits worth 164 billions in Kakamega. Political leaders made millage out of it in the press and political rallies telling the Luhyia to vote for Jubilee so as to benefit from the gold exploration. After Jubilee winning everything went silent.

But, Chini ya maji… the political class came in. government red tapes emerged. Road blocks were put in place so as to ensure that whoever got the mining rights had to part with massive amounts of money as kickbacks, taxes, bribes .. etc to oil their campaigns and political ambitions. It is obvious that whoever will mine that gold has done lots of underhand deals with politicians in Kakamega and central govt.

2020: As we prepare for the next election, the gold story is back. Those pushing BBI and wanting to show off on how close they are to govt have come back and are dangling the very same carrot. Gold. Last month, the mining CS Munyes visited Kakamega and was handed a title deed for a five acre piece of land where the mining factory will be put up.

*THE LUHYIA MUST NOW WAKE UP AND ASK QUESTIONS.*

We cannot be waiting for the likes of Oparanya or Eugine Wamalwa to come to us every campaign year to tell us about gold. We as the Luhyia must now wake up and demand answers on what is this gold business about? As luyias from Western Kenya, we MUST DEMAND to know

  1. Who the exploration company’s local representatives are,
  2. How was the tendering process for the mining company done?
  3. Which mining methods will be employed
  4. Where are the environmental impact assessment reports?
  5. How will compensation be done to the people living in the gold mining corridor
  6. But MOST IMPORTANT.. How will the gold mining improve the lives of people in Western?

*CONCLUSION*

Just like the Kikuyu in Muranga are asking Delemonte.. the American agro giant that has leased it’s land to build for them an Ultra modern hospital… and the Turukana demanded that Tullow Oil give them jobs and build schools, we the Luhyia Renaissance  …DEMAND THAT the company that will mine our gold starts by constructing schools, hospitals,  houses, orphanages, police stations, roads etc for our people and explain the sharing of revenue with locals.

We will NOT ACCEPT OPARANYA OR OTHERS TO PLAY POLITICS WITH OUR GOLD.

#AmungaAkhanayalabandu

#LuhyiaRenaissance

LET US MOVE AWAY FROM THE POLITICS OF KIKUYU VS THE REST OF KENYA IN THIS DEBATE ON REVENUE SHARING IT WILL NOT WORK

The debate on revenue sharing is again being turned into the Kikuyu vs Kenyans. You see Billow Kerow writing on behalf of the Somali on how Kikuyu have always benefited at the expense of Kenyans. Then he concludes by whipping emotions of let all Kenyans join him to fight the Mt. Kenya.w
Then we see the Kikuyu respond via Mutahi Ngunyi on how a man with three wives cannot divide food equally to them without concidering the number of children each has. Unfortunately the rest of Kenya including my Luhyia people want to jump into the debate full of emotions to support the under dog from northern Kenya.
I am advocating for a change of tact by Luhyia Nation this time. Is it possible that we also take our own selfish position in this debate that will favour us. A position that will favour revival of our sugar industry, our forests, our maize farms, our Kenya Uganda Border exit and entry points and OUR GOLD DEPOSITS? I am calling this, the Luhyia Renaissance.
*REVENUE SHARING BILL IS ABOUT POLITICS OF 2022*
We cannot run away from the fact that hidden politics are at play in the whole debate. Politics of 2022. We as the Luhyia have a candidate. That means we cannot just be bystanders or spectators who can only offer support and solidarity to the Kenya Somali who feel aggreived. We must take a stand. Our stand.
What is our position as Luhyia, as ANC, as FORD KENYA on the debate?
Or are we going to ride on how the Somali are fighting the Kikuyu and the Luo on the one man one shilling debate? Were we born to just be supporters of others?
Truth remains that we the Luhyia have similar interests like the Kikuyu and Luo on this debate. We have large populations. We have fertile lands. We are human resources. We are agriculturalists. We have similar traits including the passion to lead Kenya. Our governor esp in Kakamega has offered better leadership than those from Somali northern Kenya who despite getting more billions than us in the previous arrangements have nothing to show in terms of development for their regions.
For many years, we the Luhyia have supported Marxists ideologies of Equality, socialism,, ujamaa, solidarity with others etc. But in the process those who propagate these ideals and we follow them, alwaysend up using us and moving on without us. The politics of Raila or the late Jaramogi were about solidarity, about them… vs us. The Kikuyu vs the other 41 tribes of Kenya. But it has always failed. Let’s call a spade a spade osiepa. Let us join this debate not in support of others, BUT IN SUPPORT OF OUR INTERESTS as the Luhyia.

IT HURTS SO MUCH WHEN THE PRESIDENT’S OWN FRIENDS FROM WESTERN KENYA ARE THE VERY PERSONS OPENLY DEFYING PRESIDENTIAL DIRECTIVES TO CONTAIN SPREAD OF COVID 19

Opera Snapshot_2020-08-02_014342_twitter.com

Pictures of a group of Luhyia leaders holding political talks with the Baringo Senator Gideon Moi in his Kabarak home have irritated the Luhyia Nation. You see, we the people of Mulembe are peace loving and law abiding citizens. We feel very bad when we see open defiance or acts of impunity targeted towards matters that are of life and death like covid.

Last week, turned on our small radios and heard the President of the Republic of Kenya H.E. Uhuru Kenyatta make the 5th address to the Nation on Coronavirus, where he outlined the basic government’s measures/directives that were meant to help curb the pandemic.

President Uhuru’s address was informed by an earlier meeting that he co chairs with our very own son from Western who is also the CoG chair, Governor Oparanya of Kakamega county.. In the team was also another son of mulembe nation, Eugine Wamalwa who sits in H.E. Uhuru’s cabinet. Meaning the president is working very closely with our own people and he has made them part of the team that drafted those laws and measures to be followed by Kenyans to stop the spread of corona.

Our dear president then read out the orders that included the immediate cancellation of all Public/Political gatherings within the Boarders of Kenya. He insisted on wearing masks and maintainace of social distancing.
SHOCK AND DISBELIEF
It thus shocked us, to see the very persons WHO STOOD NEXT TO THE PRESIDENT at a political function in Kabarak. They even took to social media to show us how they flew into Kabarak, presented gifts and outlined the reasons for their visit as being political. Clearly they were contravening the very laws they had made. Many of them were not wearing masks. And those who had them were wore them wrongly. They were not observing social distancing and clearly they were in a political gathering. Simply they were showing the president their middle finger.

CONCLUSION
If our senior leaders from ingo are disobeying the president and putting us all at risk like this, then what example are they showing? They deserve to be punished. But allow me to apologize to the president and plead with him NOT TO TAKE ACTION ON THOSE LUHYIA leaders. I know president Uhuru has a forgiving heart. And most likely he will be seen with them at another press conference giving more stringent measure to be followed by we the simple mwananchi. But let me sound a chilly warning to them .. and other such like leaders that families of people affected or dying of covid-19 due to their reckless behaviors GOD… IS WATCHING. GOD WILL REVENGE FOR US, THE WIDOWS, ORPHANS who have been left paying huge hospital bills. God is not man that you can lie to and play politics with. God will deal you.

HEAD TEACHER DEFILES LEARNER AND IS ON THE RUN

Opera Snapshot_2020-08-01_140751_www.nation.co.kePolice officers in Kisii are in pursuit of a head teacher who is alleged to have defiled a 15 year old girl then fled.

The man identified as Innocent Ogega is the head teacher of Bendera Primary School.

He went into hiding upon realising that the young girl had exposed him.

Having received treatment from the hospital, the victim’s mother says that the doctors’ reports confirms that indeed the girl was defiled.

The matter was reported at Nyacheki Police Station and the Kisii police Boss Jebel Munene said investigations are underway.

“We are looking for the suspect who has since gone into hiding,” said Mr Munene adding that the matter was reported to police by the girl’s mother.

According to the mother, she went to attend to her milk selling business but upon returning home never found her daughter.

The girl came back home after several hours and when asked where she had been ,she said that she was with the suspect, who is also her uncle.

According to the police boss, the suspect gave the young girl ksh 1000 and warned her against exposing him.

After being questioned by the police, the girl admitted that this was the second time the man defiled her.

Mr. Munene expressed worry about the soaring cases of defilment. Kisii has recorded at least 50 such cases since March.

Government statistics also shows that about 10,000 teenage pregnancies have been recorded in the past 11 months.
